The Schunplattler DanceThe Schuhplattler dance began as a courtship dance. The boys would try to impress the ladies by outdoing the other boys with powerful leaps, dancing, and striking sequences. The dancers would strike the soles of theirs shoes with their hands giving it the name "Schuhe" and "platt". This dance originally took place in a no- hold stance created by farmers, hunters, and woodsmen in Bavaria. It has been determined that one can tell where a group was from by the way they preformed this dance. (Schwuhplattler)
